Numbers of the storage disk business Números del negocio de almacenamiento
IDC posted a new study about the revenues of the storage disk sector that includes the sales of the fourth quarter 2009 and the complete year. According with its analysis, during the fourth quarter 2009 the industry sold $7.3 billion, growing 0.2% compared with the same period of 2008. Also the sales of the complete year 2009 were $24.46 billion, down 11.90% compared with the prior year. The analysis of the sales of external and internal storage disk during the 12 months and the last quarter 2009 shows during the total disk storage systems turned a corner in the last three months of the year after a long period of decline.

Apple announced that its magical and revolutionary iPad will be available in the market of the United States on Saturday, April 3, for Wi-Fi models and in late April for Wi-Fi+3G models. In addition, al models of this digital table will be introduced in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, and United Kingdom in late April. In summary, other important computer makers introduced before advanced digital tables. Recently, Lenovo and Hewlett-Packard made special announcements of innovative tables. After all the steps through the route of digital table computers, the question is: Will be really the iPad the beginning of total new revolution, or it will be the end of the revolution that others began from long time ago?

From March 1 to 5, in the Moscone Center of San Francisco, RSA Conference USA 2010 is holding organized by RSA and with the participation of members of the Government, university professors and companies linked with the security environment. On Tuesday March 2, Arthur Coviello, Jr, Executive Vice President of EMC and President of RSA began the series of keynote sessions talking about the safety in the cloud computing. In summary, one of the important subject of many of the speakers was the security in the new cloud computing. They also talked about complex cases of cyber-crime and new tools to make secure environment in the current and future technology environments.

Chips: IBM Uses the Avalanche Effect Chips: IBM usa el efecto avalancha
IBM Labs, from Yorktown Heights, New York, informed its scientists gave a significant step towards replacing electric signals that communicate via copper wires between computer chips with tiny silicon circuits that communicate using pulses of light. The scientists built a device called nanophotonic avalanche photodetector that uses "avalanche effect" in Germanium, a material currently used in production of microprocessor chips. Other companies like Intel and Luxtera are researching similar techniques to improve the communication among chips. In summary, the use of the pulses of light in the chip communication will help to surpass current barriers in the semiconductor industry that are stopping the industry in its movement forward the future.

Apple Accuses to a Google’s Friend Apple acusa a un amigo de Google
Apple surprised to the industry with a new legal demand about digital devices patents. The company of the magic apple filed a lawsuit against HTC for infringing on 20 Apple patents related to the iPhones user interface, underlying architecture and hardware. The lawsuit was filed concurrently with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and in U.S, District Court in Delaware. In connection with this problem, Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, said that the company will not accept competitors steal the patented inventions of his company. HTC was the first manufacturer to install the Android operating system from Google in its machines and it is also the maker of the Nexus One of Google. Analysts and external observers ask questions about the background of HTC and how it grew as important provider of the industry from 1997 till now.

CeBIT 2010 Opened its Doors in Hannover CeBIT 2010 abrió sus puertas en Hannover
CeBIT 2010, the biggest fair of computers and technology today, opened its doors in the Hannover's Center of Exhibitions, Germany, with the assistance of Chancelor Angela Merket and Spanish President José Luis Rodriguez Zapatatero This year, exhibitions and conferences are holding between March 2 and 6. Special events and forums begin with the presentation of Intel titled Intel Extreme Masters. It is expected also speeches from Amazon.com, Google, Telefonica and others executives. From CeBIT 2010, IBM is unveiling a new class of x86 systems that breaks constraints of 30-year technology design, rewriting economic principles of the computing industry-standard. In summary, there are a lot of expectations about news and innovative products from companies of all Europe, Russia, former-Soviet Union countries, Middle East and Asia.

IDC, one of the most important analysis firms of the technology market, unveiled the details of its last study about sales of servers during the fourth 2009 quarter and the complete 2009 year. These were the five more important server manufacturers across the world in the fourth 2009 quarter: 1) IBM, sales: $4.59 billion; market share: 35.4%; variation: -6.5% 2) HP, sales: $3.95 billion; market share: 30.5%; variation: +0.8% 3) Dell, sales: $1.49 billion: 11.5%; variation: +4.5% 4) Sun Microsystems, sales: $1.32 billion; market share: 8.0%; variation: -17.3% 5) Fujitsu: sales: $595 million; market share: 4.6%; variation: + 7.2% 6) Others: sales: $1.30 billion, market share:10%; variation: -8.9%. According to its information the fourth quarter sales declined year over year but grew sequential from previous quarters showing the industry is entering in a new inflection point.

Novell: Its Golden Years Are Lying in the History Novell: Sus años dorado descansan en la historia
From Waltham, Massachusetts, Novell, networking-software leader of other times, said its businesses of software for security, management and operating platforms grew 26% during the last three months compared with a year ago, but it also recognized the sales of its legacy networking software declined 12% in the same period from the prior year. Tech Data–FalconStor: From Boxes to Total Solutions Tech Data-FalconStor: De cajas a soluciones totales
Tech Data distributed two press communications that say more than the normal daily news from distributors to journalists and industry analysts. It is expanding its Advanced Infrastructure Solutions Division and it signed an agreement with Falcon Stor to distribute its software products. In the first communication it informed its Advanced Infrastructure Solutions Division following the successful introduction of the division's Cisco Solutions Group last year, has built out its data center support structure with the HP Solutions Group, IBM Solutions Group, Software Solutions Group and Storage Solutions Group. In the second communication, Tech Data announced that it will distribute FalconStor Software's complete line of data-protection storage solutions. Like Tech Data, other big distributors such as Ingram Micro and Bell Micro are working in advanced solutions for businesses, government agencies and educational institutions. This implies a big change from the classic distribution channel moving boxes and selling hardware and software without important additional value.

Lenovo Attempts to Break Barriers Lenovo trata de romper barreras
Lenovo updated its family of business computers with new models of ThinkPads and a new server. In total, it introduced five products. The main features of the four mobile computers are light and thin machines, more that normal models of high performance and strong process power.The first machine is an ultra-light laptop named ThinkPad X201 that packs heavyweight performance into an extremely thin and light design, running Intel normal volt Core processors. The second announcement includes two mobile workstations W701 and W701ds with Intel Core i7 Series processors with Intel Turbo Boost and Intel Hyperthreading technologies and NVidia Quatro GPSs. Additionally, it presented a smart tablet for business named also ThinkPad X201 with multimedia, security and connectivity advanced features. Lastly, Lenovo introduced a small server with big server features and starting-price under $500. It is the ThinkServer TS200v. It comes with the Intel Active Management Technology to make easy the remote management of the systems when customers don?t have technical people in the installation.
