Novell: Its Golden Years Are Lying in the History
From Waltham, Massachusetts, Novell, networking-software leader of other times, said its businesses of software for security, management and operating platforms grew 26% during the last three months compared with a year ago, but it also recognized the sales of its legacy networking software declined 12% in the same period from the prior year.
These were its main numbers: 1) total net revenue: $202 million, down 5.82% year over year. 2) Net income: $20 million, up 89.08% also compared with a year ago.
Despite the Linux SUSE business is growing well like the security and management packages, the Novell's revenues are long distance away from its golden years. It is clear its war with Microsoft in the operating systems arena, and its frustrated efforts to expend its operations to the consumer side with WorldPerfect were very negative for the father of Netware, important operating system of the 80 and part of the 90s.
