IBM Targeting to Android Platform
IBM apuntando a la plataforma Android
IBM announced it is delivering a beta version of Lotus Notes Traveler, a business-grade collaboration software for use with devices that run the Google Android operating system.
Lotus Notes customers will synchronize information between Lotus Notes and mobile devices, including Droid, Nexus One and the other smart-phones running Android.
Additionally, the next version of IBM Lotus Connections social software is planning to support the Android platform. According to a recent news report, approximately 100,0000 Android based phones are being activated each day.
La división de IBM Software anunció que está liberando una versión beta de software de colaboración para usarse en los teléfonos inteligentes que corren el sistema operativo Android de Google, entre ellos los Droid de Motorola, el Nexus One de la misma Google, y diferentes modelos de HTC.
IBM Lotus desarrolló el nuevo programa de colaboración y es una versión especial del Lotus Notes Traveler, Otras versiones de este mismo programa están disponible para dispositivos de Nokia basados en el sistema operativo Symbian, los teléfonos con Windows Mobile 7 y la plataforma de Apple.
Lotus Notes Traveler es un programa de la familia de Lotus Notes pensado en las necesidades actuales de las empresas que crecen en forma móvil y con empleados trabajando en forma remota desde cualquier posición de trabajo, o viajando. Permite sincronizar el mail de Domino y acceder a toda la información disponible del sistema Lotus Notes
Además, IBM trabaja para que la nueva versión del software social Lotus Connections soporte la plataforma Android a partir de la versión 2.0 y hacia delante, considerando que aproximadamente unos 100.00 teléfonos con Android se están activando cada día.
La iniciativa de IBM apuntando en firme hacia la plataforma Android es un una señal importante para tener en cuenta. Según IDC hacia fines del corriente año se estima que más de 1 mil millones de trabajadores móviles estarán conectados a través de teléfonos inteligentes y gran número de ellos usarán dispositivos inteligente corriendo Android. Al respecto, los sistemas operativos iPhone OS y Android fueron los sistemas operativos que más adhesiones ganaron en los meses recientes.

En la exhibición de E3 Expo que cerró ayer en Los Ángeles, California, uno de las novedades más destacables fue la introducción de 3DS de Nintendo, un sistema portátil que permite jugar en tres dimensiones sin necesidad de anteojos especiales. El 3DS incluye una pantalla de 3,53 pulgadas arriba y otra pantalla sensible al tacto abajo de 3,02 pulgadas. La prensa publicó buenos comentarios sobre este nuevo juego del fabricante japonés.
TABLEROS DIGITALES
TechRepublic, publicación profesional de tecnología, distribuyó un análisis del mercado en el cual afirma que los tableros digitales desplazarán a la familia de computadores móviles pequeños para Internet (netbooks) dentro de dos años, en el 2012.
A propósito, diferentes compañías están pensando introducir tableros al estilo del iPad de Apple. El último rumor llegó de gente vinculada con Research In Motion, fabricante de BlackBerry.
TECH WALL STREET
Después de un día con resultados mixtos, los mercados bursátiles de Nueva York cerraron la cuarta jornada de la semana en territorio positivo. Todos los índices importantes de Wall Street subieron.
Al cierre de la sesión bursátil del jueves 17 de junio, estas fueron las variaciones de los principales índices de Wall Street:
- Dow Jones Industrials Average avanzó 24,71 puntos, o sea 0,24%, para cerrar en 10434,17.
- Nasdaq Composite subió 1,23 puntos, o sea 0,05%, cerrando en 2307,16.
- S&P 500 ganó 0,16%.
- NYSE subió 0,09%.
Las acciones estrellas del 2009 finalizaron el día con los siguientes resultados :
- Google declinó $1,10, o sea 0,24%, cerrando en $500,08.
- priceline.com bajó $1,15, o sea 0,59%, para cerrar en $195,26.
- Apple creció $4,62, o sea 1,73%, cerrando en $271,87.
En el sector de chips y semiconductores, Applied Materials, Intel, y Qualcomm subieron.
En el sector de sistemas, computadores, almacenamiento y redes, Cisco volvió a declinar. El resto, IBM, HP, Apple, Dell, y EMC finalizaron la sesión en territorio positivo. IBM cerró en $130,98. HP concluyó la sesión en $48,24.
En el sector de software, Adobe y Microsoft cerraron en alza. Oracle y Symantec se movieron hacia abajo.
En el sector de impresión e imagen,Canon bajó. Kodak, Lexmark, y Xerox subieron.
En el sector de servicios de Internet, Google y Baidu declinaron. Yahoo cerraron en territorio positivo.
En el sector de comercio electrónico, Amazon.com, EBay, y priceline.com, los tres finalizaron con números negativos.
En el sector de telecomunicaciones, AT&T subió. Sprint Nextel y Verizon Communications bajaron.
1.- De 38 empresas representativas de diferentes sectores de la industrias de tecnología e Internet, al cierre del día, 20 cerraron en territorio positivo, 1 sin cambios, y 17 finalizaron en territorio negativo.
2.- El mejor crecimiento del grupo fue el de First Solar (+3,94%).
3.- La peor caída de todo el grupo fue la de Sprint Nextel (-3,13%).

For the quarter ended on May 29, Research In Motion reported revenue of $4.24 billion, just below the Wall Street consensus of $4.35 billion. The maker shipped 11.2 million smart phones in the quarter, and added 4.9 million net new subscriber accounts. Oracle announced fiscal 2010 four quarter with total revenues of $9.5 billion, up 39% compared year over year. According to the company the quarter was solid in results. White Oracle is going out of all the problems of the Sun Microsystems merger, Research In Motion suffers difficulties for the hard competition of iPhone and the smart-phones based on Android platform.

Acer Is Growing in Ambitions

Days ago, Wall Street posted an article written by Ting-I Tsai in Taipei (Taiwan) that said Acer is confident that it will accomplish its goal of becoming the No. 1 notebook vendor this year despite the economic crisis. The chairman of the PC maker, J.T. Wang thinks revenue in the third quarter will rise 10% to 15% from the second quarter. Also, the company of Taiwan expects personal computer shipments could rise as much as 50% this year. Till now, the leader of the sector is Hewlett-Packard but Acer is growing more than HP in the last quarters.

The last news came from Nokia that lowed its sales forecast of the current quarter because it cans achieve its previous outlook. Novell: Less Revenues, No Net Losses

Novell announced financial results for its second fiscal quarter ended on April 30, 2010. For the quarter, the software company reported net revenue of $204 million, when a year ago it posted $216 million. For the other side, it net income was $19.9 million. In the same period of 2009, it was $15.6 million. Novell sees revenue of $205 million to $210 million in the current quarter, below the average of $210 analysts have been expected. Despite the enterprises are hiring new software and the economy is recovering, Novell doesn't show signs of growth. Some observers expect a potential acquisition of the father of Netware.
